Still No Progress

My last prenatal appointment was on Tuesday. Still, no progress. She said I'm thinning out a bit, but still not enough. And what does this all mean, I get to be induced. On Wednesday the nurse called me and said they booked me to check into the hospital Tuesday night (May 3rd) to start my cervidil and then deliver the baby on Wednesday (May 4th).

The baby is still moving lots and looks like an alien when she pushes against my tummy. Heidi and Noah refuse to feel her move, I don't blame them it does look pretty weird. Heidi and Noah are playing a lot of baby and mommmy. Heidi tells Noah to use his baby words if he wants food and then when he cries she gives him food. It's pretty funny!

The baby room is making progress. Now that the office is complete (still needs some touch up paint, but everything else is complete) we can start moving in furniture and decorating the walls. I've got the "wall of frames" done and I'm working on her shelves. Today we moved the crib and the changing table into the room, but I'm not sure they're going to stay in their current locations.

I'm excited to get everything complete and have this baby join our family.

No, I'm Not Having Twins

Yes, I know I'm big.

Yes, I know I look like I was due last week.

No, I am not having twins.

Sadly, this is how most of my conversations are going lately. You would think women would know not to ask if you're having twins, but apparently not. The count of "are you having twins" is now up to 6 random people, 5 have been women. And to make it even better these are not people I know, just people I randomly run into, like someone in the elevator or someone at a restaurant. Let's make a rule, never ask a lady if she is pregnant and never, never, never ask her if she's having twins. If she is having twins then she will share that information with you. If she's not, well, good job on ruining her day.

Due Date is Approaching

I have been asked, several times a day, when I'm due. Here's the deal.... My due date is May 19th, however, my doctor is convinced the due date is May 5th. You see, the first ultrasound I had done (at 9 weeks pregnant) showed May 5th as the due date. That's a 2 week difference! The second ultrasound showed May 19th. So after this conflicting information my doctor ordered a 3rd ultrasound, still showed May 19th (no big surprise). I'm not sure if he hasn't read the information or if he's just being nice and going to let me deliver early, but he keeps saying May 5th. And you know what, he went to 8 years of medical school, not me, so who am I to argue with his opinion of my due date. So, May 5th it is! Technically by May 5th I will be 38 weeks and a baby is considered full term at 37 weeks.

With my other two babies I never went into labor or showed any signs of labor in the weeks before my due date. As my due date approached and there were no signs of me going into labor on my own my doctor induced me on my due date with Heidi and the day after my due date with Noah. Yesterday was my first "exam" by the doctor to check for dilation and all the other stuff they do. And guess what, I'm not dilating. No surprise here, I could have told them that. Technically I'm almost 35 weeks not almost 37 weeks, so of course I'm not dilating. I saw the nurse practitioner and she was very sweet to say that I was almost dilated to a one, code for "you're not making any progress yet". She also told me that the hospital does not allow the doctors to schedule a induction until the patient is at least 39 weeks, which is only 2 weeks away.

I will continue to update this blog as more happens and this will be the blog to read when my doctors finally induce me.
